I have known and worked with Sally Guthart for over 5 years. It has been a great and valued relationship. My husband and I moved to a house in 2010 which has spectacular views of the front range. But the home landscape had not been renewed in over 20 years. We were inundated by overgrown junipers throughout the yard. We were fortunate to have some lovely trees but far too much of our property was devoted to turf. We needed a plan which honored the solid backbone of the yard but re-envisioned a garden space which was welcoming and would cause the discerning visitor or friend to pause and look. Sally began the planning process by asking us in a questionnaire to define our goals and preferences for what we wanted our landscape to be. This process allowed us to get on the same page immediately before any drawings were put to paper. I relied on and trusted Sally to suggest plants which would do well in our area of Colorado. Sally is a fantastic plantswoman and I think this is so important to creating a garden that is unique and can also survive in our tough environment. Sally has come back every year to look at the garden, make recommendations about plants and help with new plant placement in the garden when needed. I have hired a few landscape designers to help with landscape renovations in other homes we have owned but I have run into no one like Sally who has been so involved over many years in evaluating our garden efforts and offering advice on potential change. She has introduced me to other great plantsmen in Northern Colorado which has augmented and enriched my knowledge of plants and the awesome people who nourish them. Her referrals to people who can put in hardscape or maintain our shrubs and trees have been invaluable. Are we pleased with our landscape efforts so far? Our garden never ceases to amaze us throughout the four seasons. I have had many neighbors who have stopped by and thanked my husband and I for creating a place of wonder and beauty. We are very grateful for Sally’s vision and extraordinary service.
